The Slovenian First Football League , currently named PrvaLiga Telekom Slovenije due to sponsorship reasons, also known by the abbreviation 1. SNL, is the main football league in Slovenia, and was formed in 1991 after Slovenia became an independent country.
The 2017–18 Slovenian PrvaLiga is the 27th edition of the PrvaLiga since its establishment in 1991. The season began on 15 July 2017 and will end on 27 May 2018.
Each team plays 36 matches (18 home and 18 away). Teams play 4 matches against each other (2 home and 2 away).
A total of ten teams are contesting the league, including eight from the 2016–17 Slovenian PrvaLiga and two promoted from the 2016–17 Slovenian Second League.
