The Zambian Premier League is the top division of the Football Association of Zambia. It was created in 1962.
In 2015, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has moved to restructure the Zambian league. The Premier League transformed its structure into four (4) streams of the First Division
Each first division stream will have 16 teams and has Zone One (Luapula, Copperbelt and North Western Provinces). Division 1 Zone Two (Lusaka and Eastern Provinces); Division One Zone Three (Northern, Central and Muchinga Provinces) and Division One Zone Four has Southern and Western provinces.
The Super League was expanded to 18 teams with two teams being relegated from the Super League.
The 2018 Zambian Premier League is the 57th season of the Zambian top-tier football league. The season began on 17 March 2018.
