The Torneo Federal A (in English "Federal A Tournament") was founded in 2014 as a result of a changein the structure of the Argentine football league system,
is one of the two leagues that form the regionalised third level of the
Argentine football league system. Clubs in the Torneo Federal have
indirect membership in AFA, while clubs in the Torneo Metropolitano (the other third division) have direct membership in AFA. All teams with indirect membership are from outside the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area (Greater Buenos Aires), while most of the direct members are from the aforementioned area.
Teams 2014:
First Stage
The teams were divided into five (5) zones with eight (8) teams (a total of 40 teams) in each zone and it was played in a round-robin tournament. The team placed first of each zone was automatically promoted to Primera B Nacional, the teams placed 2º to 4º and the best 5º team from the five zones qualified for the Second Stage.

Second Stage
Consists of sixteen (16) teams that qualified from the First Stage. It was played in a double-elimination tournament. The order was:
- The five (5) teams placed 2º in their respective zones were
enumerated from 1º to 5º according to the points obtained in the First
Stage.
- The five (5) teams placed 3º in their respective zones were
enumerated from 6º to 10º according to the points obtained in the First
Stage.
- The five (5) teams placed 4º in their respective zones were
enumerated from 11º to 15º according to the points obtained in the First
Stage.
- The best team placed 5º was enumerated 16º.
The playoffs were: 1º vs 16º; 2º vs 15º; 3º vs 14º; 4º vs 13; 5º vs
12º; 6º vs 11º; 7º vs 10º; 8º vs 9º. The winning teams qualified for the
Third Stage.
Third Stage
Consists of eight (8) teams that qualified from the Second Stage. It
was played in a double-elimination tournament. The teams remain with the
designated positions of the Second Stage. The playoffs were: 1º vs 8º;
2º vs 7º; 3º vs 6º; 4º vs 5º. The winning teams qualified for the Fourth
Stage.
Fourth Stage
Consists of four(4) teams that qualified from the Second Stage. It
was played in a double-elimination tournament. The teams remain with the
designated positions of the Second Stage. The playoffs were: 1º vs 4;
2º vs 3º. The winning teams were promoted to Primera B Nacional.

Relegations
As it is a transition tournament there will be no relegations.
Ayer se conoció la forma de disputa del Torneo Federal "A”
de fútbol que comenzará el domingo 24 de agosto del presente año. Cabe
destacar que se trata de un torneo de transición que comenzará a fines
de agosto y terminará a mediados del mes de diciembre. Estarán en juego 7
ascensos a la Primera B Nacional, la segunda categoría del Fútbol Argentino. El Torneo estará dividido en 5 Zonas de 8 equipos cada una (Ver: Así será la Zona de Juventud y Gimnasia).
La Primera Fase se llevará a cabo por el sistema de puntos en las
cuales jugarán todos contra todos a dos ruedas (dentro de su zona), en
partidos de ida y vuelta. El primero de cada zona asciende a la Primera B
Nacional de la AFA 2015 (Total: 5 clubes).
Clasifican a la Segunda Fase el segundo, el tercero y cuarto de cada zona y el mejor quinto (Total: 16 clubes).-
Segunda Fase:
Estará integrada por los dieciséis (16) clubes clasificados de la
Primera Fase. Se desarrollará por el sistema de eliminación directa a
doble partido, uno en cada sede.
El ordenamiento de los clubes para determinar los enfrentamientos será de la siguiente manera:
A los cinco clubes ubicados en segundo lugar se los ordenará de la
posición 1º a la posición 5º de acuerdo a los puntos obtenidos en la
Primera Fase.
A los cinco clubes ubicados en tercer lugar se los ordenará de la
posición 6º a la posición 10º de acuerdo a los puntos obtenidos en la
Primera Fase.
A los cinco clubes ubicados en cuarto lugar se los ordenará de la
posición 11º a la posición 15º de acuerdo a los puntos obtenidos en la
Primera Fase.
Al club que se ubicó como mejor quinto se le asignará la posición 16º.
Los enfrentamientos serán de la siguiente manera:
1º vs. 16º; 2º vs. 15º; 3º vs. 14º y así sucesivamente.
Actuarán de local en el primer partido las posiciones: 9º, 10º, 11, 12º, 13º, 14º, 15º y 16º.
Los ocho (8) clubes ganadores clasifican a la Tercera Fase.
Tercera Fase:
Estará integrada por los ocho (8) clubes clasificados de la Segunda Fase.
Se desarrollará por el sistema de eliminación directa a doble
partido, uno en cada sede. Los clubes mantendrán el mismo ordenamiento
de la Segunda Fase.
Los cuatro (4) clubes ganadores clasifican a la Cuarta Fase.
Cuarta Fase:
Estará integrada por los cuatro (4) clubes clasificados de la Tercera Fase.
Se desarrollará por el sistema de eliminación directa a doble
partido, uno en cada sede. Los clubes mantendrán el mismo ordenamiento
de la Segunda Fase.
Los dos (2) clubes ganadores ascienden a la Primera B Nacional de la AFA Edición 2015.
