Nigeria - 2017 Professional Football League

The 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League will be the 46th season of the top Nigerian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1972, and the 27th since the rebranding of the league as the "Professional League". Plateau United won the league on the Saturday, 9 September 2017 with a 2-0 victory over Enugu Rangers.

Enugu Rangers won the previous edition, their seventh league title and first since 1984.

A total of 20 teams will contest the league including 16 teams from the previous season and four teams promoted from the Nigeria National League. The season will begin 14 January.

League Table

Plateau United's win of this edition is their first ever title, which came in their second season after been promoted to the top flight.

The 2015 Nigeria Professional Football League (also known as the Nigerian Glo premier league for sponsorship reasons) is the 44th season of the [Nigeria Premier League], the top Nigerian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1972, and the 25th since the rebranding of the league as the "Professional League".

Kano Pillars came into the season as defending champions of the 2014 season. Shooting Stars, Gabros, Wikki Tourists and Kwara United entered as the four promoted teams.

A total of 20 teams will contest the league including 16 teams from the previous season and four teams promoted from the Nigeria National League. The four promoted teams replace Gombe United, Crown, Kaduna United and Nembe City who were all relegated to the National League at the end of the previous season
