Ukraine - First League 2014/15

The Persha Liha  or Ukrainian First League is a football league in Ukraine and the second tier of national football competitions. Members of the league also participate in the Ukrainian Cup. Unlike the Ukrainian Premier League.

The 2014–15 Ukrainian First League will be the 24th since its establishment. The competition commenced on 26 July 2014 with seven matches. Due to sponsorship reasons the league is called Favbet League 1.

The number of teams for the competition was confirmed on 7 July 2014.

Promoted teams

Four teams were promoted from the 2013–14 Ukrainian Second League.

Relegated teams

No teams were relegated from the 2013–14 Ukrainian Premier League. Tavriya Simferopol was to be relegated from the Ukrainian Premier League but the team terminated its existence after the annexation of Crimea by Russia. 

Withdrawn teams

• Tytan Armyansk withdrew from the PFL and later terminated their existence due to the annexation of Crimea.

Suspended teams

• FC Avanhard Kramatorsk were suspended from the PFL due to the insurgency in Donbass.

Merged teams

PFC Oleksandriya refused promotion to the Premier League. Prior to the season PFC Oleksandriya and UkrAhroKom Holovkivka merged into one club renaming themselves to FC Oleksandriya.

Ukraine - Premier League 2014/15

The Ukrainian Premier League (Ukrainian: "Прем'єр-ліга") is the highest division of Ukrainian annual football championship. As the Supreme League (Vyshcha Liha) it was formed in 1991 upon discontinuation of the Soviet championship and included the Ukrainian based clubs that competed in the Soviet competitions. In 1996 along with all the professional football leagues of Ukraine, the Supreme League became a member of the Professional Football League of Ukraine.

In 2008 it was reformed into a more autonomous entity of both the Professional League and the Football Federation of Ukraine, officially changing its name to the current one. 

The 2014–15 Ukrainian Premier League season is the 24th since its establishment. The competition commenced on 25 July when Metalurh Donetsk hosted Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Lviv. With the continuation of the 2014 pro-Russian conflict in Ukraine in the oblasts of Donetsk and Luhansk the Football Federation of Ukraine, the league reduced the number of teams.

Iit was confirmed, that the championship will be played using standard double round-robin tournament system. The last team will be relegated and will be replaced by the champion of the 2014–15 Ukrainian First League^.

Initially, a total of 16 teams were expected to participate in the league, the best 14 sides of the 2013–14 season and two promoted clubs from the 2013–14 Ukrainian First League. The fifteenth-placed team of the 2013–14 Ukrainian Premier League, Tavriya Simferopol was relegated to the 2014–15 Ukrainian First League at the end of the season. A second team was to be relegated but with the withdrawal of Arsenal Kyiv during the 2013–14 Ukrainian Premier League season only one team was relegated.

Teams from Crimea, namely Sevastopol and Tavriya Simferopol, will not participate in the Ukrainian competition since they ceased their existences and applied (under new names) for a Russian license after the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014.

The relegated team and the vacant position were to be replaced by the champions of the 2013–14 Ukrainian First League, FC Olimpik Donetsk, and the runners-up, PFC Oleksandriya. But PFC Oleksandriya refused the promotion to the Premier League and merged with FC UkrAhroKom Holovkivka.

On 2 June 2014, Premier League published two preliminary projects of possible season schedule with 16 and 12 teams respectively. On 27 June 2014, it was confirmed that 14 teams will play in the 2014–15 season.
