The Primera División B (metropolitan tournament) is being played since 1939. Since that year, the number of teams, rules and names for the tournament have changed, but as of now it's called "Primera de Ascenso" and 18 teams take part. Primera Division B is the third level of Paraguayan football.

The champion is Sportivo San Lorenzo, who scored 73 points in 34 games and stayed ahead of Atletico Colegiales (71). The only promoted to the Intermediate was the "Rayadito", since the student team lost in the penalties the Promotion against the 3 Corrales of Ciudad del Este.
