Tafea FC were the dominant force in Vanuatu club football for much of the past 20 years after they racked up 16 domestic championships including a winning run of 15-in-a-row. That purple patch of success was rounded off with a runners-up finish at the 2001 OFC Club Championship when they lost out narrowly for the Oceania crown to Australia’s Wollongong Wolves. Since then Tafea have faced growing competition from fellow Vanuatu outfit Amicale with the two clubs trading appearances at Oceania’s top table since 2008. Expect the club nicknamed the Red Roosters to give plenty as they seek to repeat that glory run to the final 13 years ago in Port Moresby.
