Gozo - 2017/18 BOV GFA Second Division


The Gozitan Second Division, known as Melita Second Division for sponsorship reasons with Melita is the second and lowest level in the Gozo Football League. The league was first competed in 1948.
The Melita Second Division is played in the same manner as the First Division. It is based on three rounds, each team play each other three times, thus the teams in the Second Division play 18 games each in total. The season is usually held between September and April. At the end of the season, the champion is promoted to the First Division and the team finishing in the bottom of the First Division is relegated to the Second Division. A promotion/relegation playoff game takes place between the team placing second in the Second Division and the 6th placed team in the First Division.






Munxar Falcons were crowned BOV GFA 2nd Division Champions.



Munxar went into the final game of the season with a 1 point lead over neighbours and rivals Sannat Lions and went in firing on all cylinders and opening a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game and dominating the first half.

Gozo - 2017/18 BOV GFA First Division


The Gozitan First Division, also known as BOV GFA First Division for sponsorship reasons with Bank of Valletta, is the top level of the Gozitan football league system. Under this system there is another division under the First Division, the Second Division.


The BOV GFA First Division is based on three rounds with each team playing each other three times, thus the teams in the First Division play 18 games each in total. The season is usually held between September and April. At the end of the season, the bottom club is relegated to the Second Division and the winner of the Second Division is promoted to next season's First Division. A promotion/relegation play-off game is held between the 6th placed First Division team and the team placing second in the Second Division.

The majority of matches are played at the Gozo Stadium or at Sannat Ground.




Victoria Hotspurs were crowned BOV GFA 1st Division Champions.

Mathematically already champions, the Spurs beat their closest rivals Nadur Youngsters 3-1 in the final match of the season to close their dominant season with a 15 point advantage.
Horace Laudi, Executive Gozo Region at Bank of Valletta and Dr Samuel Azzopardi, President of the Gozo Football Association presented Victoria with the BOV GFA 1st Division LAeague Trophy
