Iceland - 2017 Úrvalsdeild

The 2017 Úrvalsdeild karla, also known as Pepsi-deild karla for sponsorship reasons, was the 106th season of top-flight Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league, including the defending champions FH, who won their eighth league title in 2016.

The season began on 30 April 2017 and concluded on 30 September 2017.

The 2017 Úrvalsdeild was contested by twelve teams, ten of which played in the division the previous year and two teams promoted from 1. deild karla. The bottom two teams from the previous season, Fylkir and Þróttur Reykjavík, were relegated to the 2017 1. deild karla and were replaced by KA and Grindavík, champions and runners-up of the 2016 1. deild karla respectively.

Each team will play home and away once against every other team for a total of 22 games played each.

Faroe Islands - 2017 Premier League

The 2017 Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as Effodeildin for sponsorship reasons) was the 75th season of top-tier football in the Faroe Islands. Víkingur Gøta successfully defended their first Faroese title from the previous season. The season began on 12 March 2017 and ended on 20 October 2017.

The bottom two teams from the 2016 season, B68 Toftir and AB, were relegated to the 2017 1. deild. They were replaced by EB/Streymur and 07 Vestur, champions and runners-up of the 2016 1. deild respectively.

Prior to the start of the 2017 season, TB were merged with the other two clubs from the island of Suðuroy: FC Suðuroy and Royn Hvalba. The new club will get a new name for the 2018 season, but for the 2017 season the club will be called TB/FC Suðuroy/Royn.

Each team plays three times (either twice at home and once away or once at home and twice away) against every other team for a total of 27 matches each

Austria - 2017/18 Football Bundesliga

The Austrian Football Bundesliga is the highest-ranking national league club competition in Austrian football. It is the competition which decides the Austrian national football champions, as well the country's entrants for the various European cups run by UEFA. Since Austria stayed in sixteenth place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2015–16 season, the league gained its first spot for the UEFA Champions League.

The 2017–18 Austrian Football Bundesliga is the 106th season of top-tier football in Austria. Red Bull Salzburg are the defending champions.

Belgium - 2017/18 Jupiler Pro League

The Belgian First Division A is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Following the 2015–16 season it was renamed from the Belgian Pro League (officially known as Jupiler Pro League. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Belgian First Division B. Seasons run from late July to early May, with teams playing 30 matches each in the regular season, and then entering play-offs 1 or play-offs 2 according to their position in the regular season. Play-offs 1 (also known as the title playoffs) are contested by the top 6 clubs in the regular season, with each club playing each other twice. Play-offs 2 (also known as the Europa League playoff) are contested by teams ranked 7 to 15 in the regular season, divided in two groups of 6 teams playing each other twice (three teams from the Belgian First Division B also take part in playoff 2). The team finishing in 16th place is relegated. As of 2014 the league was sponsored by AB InBev, brewers of Jupiler beer, and officially known as Jupiler Pro League, the sponsor name for the 2016–17 Belgian First Division A is still unknown.

The 2017–18 Belgian First Division A is the 115th season of top-tier football in Belgium. The season began on 28 July 2017 and will conclude in May 2018. The fixtures were announced in early June 2017.

Estonia - 2017 Meistriliiga

The 2017 Meistriliiga (known as A. Le Coq Premium Liiga for sponsorship reasons) is the 27th season of the Meistriliiga, the top level of the Estonian football system. The season began on 3 March 2017 and ends on 4 November 2017.

FCI Tallinn are the defending champions. The champions underwent a name change between the seasons having been known as Infonet from 2011 to 2016.

Teams

A total of 10 teams will contest the league, including 8 teams from the 2016 season. Tarvas were relegated after a winless season. Their spot was taken by Esiliiga champions Tulevik, making an immediate return after their 2015 relegation.

In the relegation play-off Pärnu Linnameeskond successfully defended their league spot by defeating challengers Maardu Linnameeskond, but on 11 January 2017 Pärnu Linnameeskond, a union of football clubs from Pärnu, broke up. Vaprus, one of the three clubs that had formed Linnameeskond, took over the league spot.

Each team plays every opponent four times, twice at home and twice away. A total of 180 matches will be played, with 36 matches played by each team.

Latvia - 2017 SynotTip Higher League

Latvian Higher League  also known as SynotTip Higher League for sponsorship reasons with SynotTip, is a professional football league and the top tier of association football in Latvia. Organised by the Latvian Football Federation, Higher League is contested by 8 clubs. The new season kicks off in mid-March of every year, and runs until early November.

The League has changed sponsors for several times. From 2005 until 2011, the league was sponsored by the telecommunications operator LMT, naming the league LMT Virslīga. In 2012 the league was reorganised in partnership with the NGO "Latvijas Futbola virslīga", adopting the NGO's name. Before the current season in March 2013, the league signed a sponsorship deal with the microfinancing company SMScredit.lv and acquired its name SMScredit.lv Virslīga.In March 2016, it was announced that the Virslīga would be sponsored by SynotTip on a three-year contract.

The 2017 Latvian Higher League is the 26th season of top-tier football in Latvia. Spartaks Jūrmala are the defending champions, having won their first title in the previous season. The season began on 10 March 2017 and is scheduled to conclude on 4 November 2017; the relegation play-offs will take place afterwards.

Teams

The bottom-placed team from the 2016 season, BFC Daugavpils, were directly relegated to the 2017 Latvian First League. They were replaced by Babīte, champions of the 2016 Latvian First League.

The seventh-placed team from the 2016 season, FS METTA/LU, retained their top-flight spot for the 2017 season by defeating 2016 First League runners-up, AFA Olaine in the play-offs.

Babīte was removed from the league on 22 June 2017 after the Latvian Football Federation received a notice from UEFA's Betting Fraud Detection System for 6 separate games involving Babite. All the results for Babīte games were invalidated and do not count for the standings.
Each team will play the other seven teams home-and-away twice, for a total of 28 games each

Barbados - Premier League 2017

The 2017 Barbados Premier League (officially the Digicel Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the 71st season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds are the defending champions, coming off their first league title.

The Premier League is the top football league in Barbados. It was created in 1947 and is headed by the Barbados Football Association. Ten teams participate in this league. 

The 9th- and 10th-placed teams are relegated to Barbados Division One. All teams play their games at the Barbados National Stadium in Bridgetown.

France - League System

The French football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in France and Monaco, and includes one Spanish side. At the top two levels of the system is the Ligue de Football Professionnel, which consists of two professional national divisions, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Below that are a number of leagues run by the Fédération Française de Football. At level 3 is the semi-professional Championnat National. Below that is the amateur Championnat de France amateur (level 4), which is divided into four parallel regional divisions, followed by the Championnat de France amateur 2 (level 5), which is divided into eight parallel regional divisions. Underneath that are many more regional leagues and divisions.^[Clubs finishing the season at or near the top of their division may be eligible for promotion to a higher division. Similarly, clubs finishing at or near the bottom of their division may be relegated to a lower division

National league

The 2016–17 season is the last of the current league structure. From 2017–18 there will be changes at Levels 3 and 4 (in name only) and Level 5 (significant restructuring and rename).

Regional leagues

For the 2017–18 season, this was the structure of the regional leagues, operating directly below the national leagues.

Liechtenstein

Due to lack of active football teams, Liechtenstein is the only UEFA member nation not to have their own league and hence does not have any spots in the UEFA Champions League. Club sides play in the Swiss leagues, with FC Vaduz currently playing in the highest Swiss division. The tiny principality does have its own cup competition, the winners of which are guaranteed entry into the Europa League qualification.

Given their placement within the Swiss league system, it is perhaps unsurprising that FC Vaduz have become the dominant force within the Liechtenstein Football Cup, winning the last 15 of the last 16 competitions.

There are only seven football teams in Liechtenstein. These teams are:

Portugal - 2016/17 Ledman LigaPro

The 2016–17 LigaPro (also known as Ledman LigaPro for sponsorship reasons) is the 27th season of Portuguese football's second-tier league, and the second season under the current LigaPro title. A total of 22 teams compete in this division, including reserve sides from top-flight Primeira Liga teams.

A total of 22 teams contest the league, including 17 sides from the 2015–16 season, two teams relegated from the 2015–16 Primeira Liga (União da Madeira and Académica) and three promoted from the 2015–16 Campeonato de Portugal (Cova da Piedade, Vizela and Fafe).

Other team changes compared to the previous season included the promotion of Chaves and Feirense to the 2016–17 Primeira Liga, and the relegation of Farense, Mafra, Atlético CP, Oriental and Oliveirense to the 2016–17 Campeonato de Portugal.

Argentina - Primera B Nacional 2016-17

Primera B Nacional (usually called simply Nacional B, in English National B Division) is the second division of the Argentine football league system, made up of 23 teams in the 2016–17 season.

It is played by teams from all over the country. Clubs from Buenos Aires surroundings, as well as some from Santa Fe Province, are promoted from or relegated to the Primera B Metropolitana ("Metropolitan B Division") while for teams from the other provinces the Torneo Federal A ("Federal A Tournament") is the next level down. In the league system of Argentine football, Nacional B is the second-highest league, and from it the three best teams are automatically promoted to Primera División.

For the 2016–17 season, the twenty-three participating teams played each other twice for a total of forty-six matches. Teams received three points for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points.

The champion and runner-up teams automatically promoted to Primera División. Four teams were relegated at the end of the season.

Faroe Islands - Premier League 2016

The Faroese premier division is sponsored by the Faroese oil company, Effo, and is therefore named “Effodeildin”

There are ten clubs in the Premier League, playing each other thrice. The bottom two teams are each year relegated to the Faroese 1st division and the top two teams of the 1st division are promoted in their place.

The season begins in March and goes on to October. Each team plays a total of 27 games.
Each team meets each one of the other teams one time at home and one time away, plus one more time either home or away, depending on the club’s league position in the past season.

Clubs are allowed to be represented with one team in each division. As for example in Spain some of the bigger clubs are also represented in the 1st and 2nd division with their B and C teams respectively. B and C teams can how ever only gain promotion if the same club is relegated from a division above.

Four teams usually qualify for European football. The champions qualify for the Champions league. Number two and three qualify for the Europa league along with the winner of the national cup competiton.

The teams are mostly made up by Faroese players, but since the nineties foreign players have also been represented in the Faroese league. Foreign players usually come from Scandinavia, Africa, Brazil and Eastern Europe. The teams can have a maximum of four players in the squad for a league game.

Clubs are represented in four divisions: The Premier League, 1st division, 2nd division and the 3rd division.

2016 Faroe Islands Premier League is the 74th season of top-tier football on the Faroe Islands. For sponsorship reasons, it is known as Effodeildin. B36 Tórshavn are the defending champions, having won their eleventh Faroese title last season.

The season is scheduled to begin on 5 March 2016 and conclude on 22 October 2016

Lithuania - 2016 A Lyga

The 2016 A Lyga, also known as SMSCredit.lt A Lyga for sponsoring purposes is the 27th season of the A Lyga, the top-tier association football league of Lithuania. The season began on 2 March and will end on 27 November 2016. Žalgiris Vilnius are the defending champions.

FK Šiauliai failed to obtain a license to play in the A Lyga and were relegated alongside FK Kruoja, which withdrew andFK Klaipedos Granitas, which was disqualified. They were replaced by FK Lietava Jonava, which will make its debut at the top level. FK Spyris Kaunas changed its name to FK Kauno Žalgiris.

The league reduced its number of teams from ten sides down to eight. As a consequence, each team will play every other four times, twice at home and twice away with the top six then playing an additional round against each other.
