The Belarusian Premier League or the Vysheyshaya Liga (Belarusian: Вышэйшая ліга, top league) is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation.
The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from
as high as 17 to the current low of 12, which was first put in place in
2010. Each team plays every other team three times during the course of
the season. At the end of the season one team is relegated to the Belarusian First League, and one is promoted from the First League to replace it.
The 2014 Belarusian Premier League is the 24th season of top-tier football in Belarus. It began in March 2014 and will end in November 2014. BATE Borisov are the defending champions, having won their 10th league title last year.
Winners of 2013 Belarusian First League Slutsk were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. 2013 runners-up Gorodeya lost the promotion play-offs to Dnepr Mogilev (11th team of Premier League) and stayed in the First League.
