Cambodia - Metfone C-League 2014

The Cambodian League is the top division of the Cambodian Football Federation. It is a Cambodia professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Cambodia football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 12 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Cambodia Division 1 League. It is called the Metfone C-League due to sponsorship reasons. Seasons run from January to August, with teams playing 22 games each totaling 132 games in the season. With the new comer Abilrex Niigata from Japan.
The 2014 season of Metfone C-League has introduced the home and away system for the very first time in the history of Cambodian football. FFC has also included a Japanese club named as Albirex Niigata FC in 2014’s Metfone C-League. Cambodian football federation has abolished the super four play-offs and decided to launch an end of season cup in that place. While the top four clubs will be playing in an end of season FFC competition, the remaining teams will be competing in play-offs to take part in a brand new Challenge Cup organized by the FFC. FFC has also decided to change the playing season calendar and therefore from now on the season will start in October and end in May of next year.
From now on title winner of Metfone C-League will be determined on the basis of total points at the end of the season. Team securing the highest points at the end of every season will be crowned the championship. If there is a tie between two or more teams’ total points, winner will be determined through a systematic tie-breaker process. First of all, head to head points of those teams will be considered to determine the topper. If not solved, goal difference of both matches played between those teams will be considered and then the goal difference of entire season. If still not solved, goals scored in both home and away matches will be considered and then the goal scored in entire season will be calculated if necessary. If there is still a tie, though unrealistic in most cases, a play-off match in a neutral venue will be played between the two teams to determine the title winner of the season. Top team of Metfone C-League will qualify for playing in group round of AFC President’s Cup. At present Metfone C-League clubs are allowed to register maximum 5 foreign players in a season but only 3 of them can play in a particular match.
